The idea behind Sandbox! is that experimenting with different technologies should be fun; and yet most of the time we’re too busy trying to get technology to work for courses and research to actually play and try things out. So here’s the chance to engage with digital tools in a fun, fast, lightweight way. There’s no commitment here – no need to think seriously about pedagogy or scholarship.
Each Sandbox! event features 2-3 types of software or hardware that might give you some ideas of how to ramp up your classes or think about your research in different ways. Each event has a theme or thread. At each event DP&S staff will be on hand to chat and brainstorm about how you might use these and other types of software and hardware. And at each event we’ll have beer, wine, and snacks.
No need to R.S.V.P. or bring your computer. We’ll have those set up, as well as a bar and snacks.

“Communication.” We’ll be engaging with the theme in two different ways: you can play with Twine, an easy-to-use interactive storytelling application, and you can play with one of several social media analysis tools, including Socialmention*, Sentiment Viz, and Analyze Words.
